The JonesCAM LX is a patented advanced teleforensics device: a body-worn, mobile "hands free" micro-video lipstick camera. The JonesCAM LX lipstick camera consists of a Micro Video Camera Head (capable of being mounted to glasses, goggles, hats, and helmets or hidden in discreet locations) attached via a 2 meter cable to a CCU (Camera Control Unit) with a fully programmable DSP (Digital Signal Processor) giving it the functionality and video quality of Camera systems 10 times its size and weight. It is capable of being connected to a wide selection of video equipment for recording and transmission of video imagery in extremely mobile applications.
The JonesCAM LX is the smallest mobile, micro video head camera in the world. The JonesCAM LX produces broadcast quality video and is currently used by TV broadcaster, R&D facilities, law enforcement, military Special Op's and medical/forensic teams. The LX system consists of a micro-head camera attached to a Cameras Control Unit (CCU) with a flexible 2-10 meter cable. The micro-camera head (about the size of a golf pencil) with 3 lens choices can be attached to glasses, goggles, extending arms, etc. The entire CCU is smaller than a deck of cards and can fit into a shirt pocket and controls and outputs the video signal captured from the micro-camera head.
By setting easy to use dip switches located on the CCU users can manually adjust the white balance gain, and shutter speed or set the JonesCAM LX to run in full automatic mode. The JonesCAM LX composite and S-Video NTSC or PAL video output connects directly to JonesCAM DVRs, camcorders, or CCTV networks/hardwired systems.
Preliminary testing has been very favorable for use with the Facial Recognition biometric software applications where a superior video image quality is required. When worn at eye level the JonesCAM LX changes the way videos are acquired allowing video to be captured in a non-obtrusive manner where fixed cameras often fall short. The JonesCAM LX can also be integrated with CCTV surveillance/security networks, Internet video networks, or ad-hoc wireless networks between multiple locations and associates allowing video surveillance information retrieval in mobile applications.
